Its already August! This year has literally flown by. We are currently preparing the next issue of DURBS magazine which will be a smash issue! We are featuring one of South Africa's most talented stars who has provided this country with mega world-wide hits! But its a surprise bokkies! You will just have to wait until next week to find out who it is. The picture should provide you with some information!
Plus we have a new columns - the Sport and Recreation column with Kerry Brown of NNSolutions plus we are so lucky to have esteemed birdie officiando Nora Catarino from birdladysecrets.com who will be providing us with an offshoot of Pets Corner - Birdie Num Num corner! NATALIE RUNGAN LAUNCHES CD
Durban-born and based Jazz artist and song-writer, Natalie Rungan, launches her debut album, ‘Love Is...’ at Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World (Suncoast) this week. The CD, which was four years in the making is, says Natalie, “the culmination of many years of hard work and experience, but the time was right, so I did it!”
‘Love is’…was co-written, arranged and produced with Ernie Smith (who appears on the album courtesy of Sheer Sound Music). Durban-based artists Lenski Alfred (bass), Burton Naidoo (piano), Valentia Verlito (keyboards, synth horns and strings), Ernie Smith on back up vox, keyboards, guitar, bass, programmed drums and strings and Donovan Jacobs (drums), are all featured on the album.
We at DURBS magazine congratulate Natalie on her achievement(s) and wish her every success with her new CD. Well done bokkie!

YOU RAISE ME UP- a tribute to Josh Groban at the Rhumbelow
Dahlings! Hey sometimes something comes along that makes your knees wet um I mean week...Freudian slip there! Its the find of the century - Singer extraordinaire Rory McLaren, presents an opportunity to experience the music of Josh Groban up close and personally in an intimate environment as the dynamic vocalist performs You Raise Me Up – A Tribute to Josh Groban, at the Rhumbelow theatre. McLaren’s tribute to Josh Groban comes to Durban after being invited to perform two sell-out performances at last year’s Hilton festival. And I have heard from my dearest friend Lisa (some of you may know her too) that his voice is superb - outstanding - electric soothing....oooo! I just cannot wait bokkies.
The show runs over two consecutive weekends: Fri 8 Aug - Sunday 10 Aug and Fri 15 Aug - Sunday 19 Aug.

SUNCOAST KITE FLYING EXPO – 9 & 10 AUGUST
COME FLY YOUR KITE! You don’t have to be a professional kite-builder to take part in the Suncoast Kite-flying Expo & Competition on Saturday 9 & Sunday10 August, starting at 09:30 at Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World (Suncoast). In fact, you don’t even have to build your own kite – as long as the kite flies, you can join in the fun.Although people are encouraged to make their own kites, there will also be kites for sale on the Suncoast Sundeck. There will be loads of spot prizes and prizes for the Best Home-made Kite, Most Colourful Kite, Most Enthusiastic Flyer, Oldest and Youngest flyer, Best Swimming Kite (if the kite lands in the water!) and for the winner of the Kite Battle (kite “fighting” in the sky). Spectators and supporters will be entertained throughout the weekend with music and various activities. The competition will end at 16:00 on Sunday 10 August with prize-giving at 16:15.
